AutomaticDynamic

The future is Automatic.

AutomaticDynamic is a digital audio compressor that calibrates its threshold and make-up gain automatically. So it’s able to work on a range of source materials without needing a lot of fine-tuning. It tries to stay loudness-matched as you turn the dials, and it stays configured even as your material changes in level.

It also sounds great, due to sophisticated gain-reduction dynamics designed to preserve transients, and a coloration unit that automatically gain-stages itself in order to stay in the sweet spot.

• Automatic compression threshold—use the "Compression" knob to control how far the threshold rides below the peaks in your signal
• Adjustable compression ratio (1–4x) and attack/release times
  
• Internal sidechain detector filters (no external sidechain)
• Three compression modes ("A", "B" and "C" buttons)
• Simple automatic gate with adjustable range up to 6dB
• Parallel processing via gain-matched dry/wet mix control for compressor and gate (does not affect the Color unit)
• Subtle saturation stage ("Color" button) with automatic gain-staging (linear-phase oversampling if project sample rate is below 160kHz)
• Automatic make-up gain to match perceived loudness
• Mid-side processing (100% unlinked)

How to use

• Set the release time to best match the groove of your material
• The Mix dial has a sweet spot at 33% wet
• Click the gain reduction display for instant A/B test (still uses CPU as if plugin activated)
• Double-click to reset a dial to its default value, or hold <CTRL>/<CMD> to fine-tune
• Use AutomaticDynamic on your master bus or on individual audio tracks
  

Technical notes

• Available in VST3 format for PC, and VST3 & AU formats for Mac. AAX support coming soon
• Requires a compatible Digital Audio Workstation or other plugin host
• ~1ms latency if Color engaged
• Plugin is designed for common audio signals such as music and voice; may not react meaningfully to artificial test signals such as chirps, impulses or bursts
